Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're seeking a buggy to run with or just a stroller that can be used for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight areas.
If you're looking for an easy ride in your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
New data show that three-wheeled buggies that were the emblem of the noughties, which had more money than common sense, are in a steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider variety of terrain, while also looking swanky and being easy to push.
The basic principle is that the larger the wheels are, the easier it'll be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and 3 year old and found it was able to withstand cobbles, grass, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it feels sturdy to push and is very stable when traversing difficult terrain. The tyres, which are inflatable and require to be pumped up regularly, have built-in suspension. It was extremely comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to take into consideration is the size and shape. You want the seat to be big enough for your child to be comfortable and allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies offer a full lie-flat option while others allow an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and muddy walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers from age 4 and includes a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness, and a large padded seat unit. Storage options are also a plus with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature wheels that swivel at the front to assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is especially useful when you hit the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will lift slightly to keep it from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres. This means they can handle a variety of terrains and are much more flexible than four wheelers. 3 wheeled buggies are also lighter. They are prone to punctures, so you will need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are among our top 3-wheelers. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, according to MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to easily move up and down kerbs. They also have suspension that according to Kath "smooths out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels can be quite large, and may struggle to fit into tight spaces. This can be an issue when you're using it for a jogger or you need to be able to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and out and about. Fortunately, many models come with small folding options that let you remove the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to manoeuvre
One of the major advantages to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable especially with a child in tow. They are designed so that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to move, making them ideal for terrains that are difficult, such as cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she wrote: "The Terrain is a delight to navigate on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly helpful." I was also awed by how well it coped with the kerbs, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it to be extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven terrain."
The only downside of this amazing mobility is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it will struggle in tight spaces, something to keep in mind especially if you live in a city area. If this is a problem, a 4-wheel buggy might be better for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars protect your child from scrapes and bumps when they are out and out and about. They are simple and quick to put up and help your child feel secure and safe whilst out on the town or tackling tough terrain.

The sling's fabric is placed within the frame it is not positioned on top like the seat that is modular. This puts the centre of gravity for your baby at the perfect height and also provides great weight distribution, making it easier to pop over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and over than you think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's excellent on cobbles and grass. It's also a great option for running with its tyres that are filled with air and a the lockable swivel wheel.

Comfort

With a fabric sling seat positioned snugly inside the frame, not over it like modular seats, the Sport's smart design permits it to have a lower centre of gravity that is the perfect height for your child - providing you with a smoother push, a less hefty curb pop (you don't require the same amount of weight or effort to pop the nose of your buggy up and over the curb) and a better stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled which allow for an easier, more comfortable jog.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also loved the space of this buggy. There's a nimble large, spacious basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size. Plus, there's also a handy pouch on the back of the unit, and two smaller mesh pockets beneath the hood where you can keep your phone and keys.
